Why are these tessellating? Isn't any collection of equi-sized equi-shapes capable of tessellating? It's a lovely block but I guess I don't get the math ref. Of course I could never quilt it either, LOL, so maybe it's the complexity of the shape your tessellating?

You don't need a pattern for this one! Just look at the pattern and it's so simple to make as you only need to mark off one corner for the opposing color. Make four of these smaller blocks, arrange them and you've made yourself a fabulous block. Make the block any size your little old heart desires. I find the simplist of patterns turn out to be the most awesome quilts. These are great examples. eej713, your examples are lovely. Love your quilting for the white flowers.
