    MTS who suggested her piecing book for the "accuracy-challenged".
    On this my 4th project, the piecing kept coming out squared and flat, which was a huge shock to my system!! I kept double checking with different rulers! there were NO wonkies, no cutting down the 12 1/2" 9-patch blocks because they all blocked nicely to 12 1/2", no wobbly strip cuts on the sash, I can't believe it! If quilting is a journey, then I may have got my bags packed, filled the tank and changed the oil. :)

    Thanks much to all the quilters on this great board - your helpful and inspirational posts, patience, encouragement, and positivity have kept me going!

    :) :)
    NOTE I am picturing this now because who knows what it will look like after I quilt, bind and post-wash it LOL

    Congrads on your good work! Just don't dislocate your shoulder while patting yourself on your back. ;-)

    Wonderful job! Happy dance!

    You refer to a book by MTS for the accuracy challenged. Can you point me to the way to find it? It sure did the job for you!

    LOL!! The book is not by me. I just recommended it to Sue. ;-)

    It's called The Art of Machine Piecing by Sally Collins.
    http://www.amazon.com/Art-Machine-Pi...508666&sr=8-1/
    She really deconstructs the whole process, each and every step. Even though she works on a small scale, her explanations of how and why things go wrong are relative to whatever size block you're working on.
    It's not a quilt police thing at all. And I always say this - you don't have to even follow her each of her methods. But when something goes wrong or is a bit off on your next project, at least now you'll know why. And how to deal with it.

    It really should be the FIRST book a newbie buys, instead of a book with easy quilts and generic instructions.

    And I have, on occasion, seen it in the racks at Joann's.

    @Sue -
    Wow, that quilt top is seriously FLAT and SQUARE. I'm so glad the book was helpful to you.
