Those will be well loved & I can see them becoming good "friends" with the kiddos. They are so cute & different from regular baby quilts. I love them!

You're right, cotton probably wouldn't rag quite as much as flannel. Homespuns make great ragg quilts, tho! They rag out as much or more than flannel.
I've seen fleece used for these too (two layers, no batting). They come out cute, but have fringed seams rather than ragged. Fleece doesn't ravel.
I would like to try homespuns for one... if I can find enough of them.
