Good for you. Those 3-legged ironing boards are awesome! Very stable. I got mine at a thrift store too, and I'll never part with it.

The old ones are SO MUCH sturdier than the new ones - even the expensive ones. I bought one at an estate sale for $3.00. We brought it home, hosed it off, sanded the rust off and painted it with Rust-olem. LOVE IT!!!!!

I haave a really old ironing board that is about 50 yrs. old and it looks very similar to what you got at the thrift store. I love it to, very sturdy. Belonged to my sister.

I got mine with Green Stamps too, 52 years ago!! At the time, I had to take a 4 year old and a 1 year old to town on the bus to get it!! What a trip that was!!! LOL The baby was in a stroller, the 4 year old pushed him while I carried the ironing board three blocks to get to the bus stop. Thank goodness the bus driver was a very helpful man!! You wouldn't see many young moms doing that these days. Still have that board and it is great!!

That is great! Those older style ironing boards are much more sturdy than the ones you find today. I have always wanted the older wooden top ironing board. They are hard to find around here.
