    Default Thrift store find

Found a twin size Sun Bonnet Sue quilt for $20.00. Probably worth a minimum of $150.00. Got an unfinished quilt top for $4.00. Haven't taken it out of the bag, but there's a lot of polyester. I will have fun putting it together!

Wonderful day! I really enjoy "rescuing" quilts from thrift stores & yard sales.

I am always surprised to see the Sunbonnet Sue's at thrift stores. She is adorable. Your quilt is in great shape! Lucky find! Thank you for rescuing her!

Great rescues. I've really been trying to finish quilting my tops so they don't end up in a thrift store when I'm gone. I'm the only one in the family who quilts, so at least when I'm gone, the kids can donate them to a worthy cause, instead of trashing them or giving unfinished tops to a thrift store. Not all people who shop there are capable of finishing them, so thank you from the original maker......

I love the Sunbonnet Sues and your great deal! I like all the calico fabrics too. A friend of mine picked up some Sunbonnet Sues in blocks only at a thrift store and gave them to me to finish as she doesn’t even sew.

I love "haunting" thrift stores. I have found great things in these places. A favorite pastime of mine.

Thanks for looking everyone!! Years ago, when I was fairly new to quilting. I went to a garage sale and there was a Sunbonnet Sue quilt on the drive way. They were selling it for $40 but they said " I'll take $20.00." The lady mentioned that it was all hand pieced and quilted by someone in her family. It's a full size quilt, worth about $350.00. I guess some just don't appreciate the work that goes into these beautiful creations!
