Yeah, Ocean Wave is the pattern, but isnt that a whiskers protector at the top? looks like a wide band of white fabric on one end, usually put on there to keep the men's whiskers and "drool" from getting on the quilt edge.. I think that is what is on that quilt. If you can spread it out and take another photo of the whole thing I'd love to see that picture...

WOW, that's amazing. I've never heard of that. I have so much to learn about antique quilts!

Yes, I'll do that tonight. I just wanted to vacuum the carpet before laying it out. Maybe I'll lay it on my bed for it's picture.

Any input is welcome, I am not well versed on these pretty ladies but I would love to learn!

It's Queen size with a single sheet size backing of muslin type material.

I just knew I wanted to find a completely handmade one that struck me as pretty.
If you measure the 'sad' triangles, to make a pattern, and add 1/4 inch to your drawing, you can press the 1/4 inch to the back, and applique the patches in place. Good as new.

I believe it is because it has a higher value if left as is under the patch.... as original.
I would imagine that one could make note somewhere with the quilt of the areas that were covered.
Anyway it is a wonderful quilt.
Others say they wish that quilts could talk....there would be quite a story.
    Thank you for sharing this.
I would have to agree with BeeNana...you do not want to degrade the quilt, so do you research, make note of it and have someone if not yourself professional repair the quilt to its original. It is a beautiful quilt and you were very lucky to find it at a Thrift store. Best of luckl, I would love to hear about the outcome.
