    Why try to "fix" it? The worn areas are signs of being loved and used.

    I'll fix it after I get an expert to date it and tell me what to do to not affect the integrity of it.

    I've been inspired to learn about the history of textiles in the US. I got this 500-pg book from Amazon:

    I'll let you all know if it's worth a read. I just can't gain a good, clear understanding of the various periods.

    Does anyone know the pattern? How do you determine the approximate age? How would you repair the squares that have torn? Sorry, more questions than answers.
