I pieced this top today on my Featherweight using fat quarters and other fabric from my stash. The middle picture is my MIL who previously owned the machine and passed away this May. I decided to make this quilt for my husband and I in her honor. I thought it would be great to do this on her machine and every stitch I made I thought of her and how she probably had sewn for her children way back when!! I'm glad there were no quilt police because sewing for the first time on my Featherweight was really an adjustment from my Janome. Speed control was the biggest issue, but like you quilters say, "Practice, practice, practice!" Thanks for looking!!

Thanks! I really love this board and the encouraging words from fellow quilters. I also like the compliments on my different projects, it gives more inspiration to tackle other quilt patterns, too!!!

It is very pretty..I have a feather wt and I love it...Sometimes it is good to go back to the basics..It makes you really appreciate modern technology and appreciate what your MIL had to sew with..I often wonder what my grandmother would think of all the tools that we have available today...

My MIL was 91 years old and never had a microwave and still had her rotary phone and an antenna hooked up to her tv. She was amazed at the tools I used for quilting and sewing.

How sweet is that!!! What did you name her? (your Featherweight) It will be wonderful to see you fall in love with Featherweights. And I am thrilled your MIL's baby went to someone that would use it to create such lovely quilts. She would be tickled to pieces to see your creation for her son! Have you thought of a lable? I think it would be cute if you took a picture of your featherweight and made it out of that with all your other information on it.

    That is just precious!
