Default Top from The New Quilting Bee 2017

I joined the New Quilting Bee in June or July and played catchup for the other months. This was the first time I ever did something like this as I just started quilting in the spring of this year. This was such a great experience, @Oksewnsew gave us such blocks to to work with, even a few bonus blocks along the way. The other quilters on the Bee were so helpful to me with all my rookie questions and through their help, my confidence in quilting has really grown.

I placed the blocks on-point and found directions for making the setting corners and triangles in one of my books. I found some lovely fabric for those fill-in pieces and I am really happy with how it goes with the blocks. I was also really surprised to see that Joann Fabrics has 108" fabric and bought a great navy paisley for the backing

I have just started using rulers and doing fmq, so I starting to work up the designs I want to do on this quilt. So different than my usual way of flying by the seat of my pants:-)

    Thanks for looking.

This is a pretty quilt. Looks like you've really applied what you learned to produce quality work! Can we see the paisley for the backer ? . . .

Wow, you just started quilting this year? This is the prettiest sampler quilt I have ever seen and I have been looking at quilt magazines and patterns some 30 years. Congratulations on a great start to your new hobby.

What a fine job you did. I too, learn alot from the members in these Bees, QALs, Contests or whatever they are called. Did you pick fabrics from your stash or use a collection or pre-cuts? The color selection is awesome!

How beautiful! The color combination and blocks on point look great! Interested to see your 108” backing fabric too!

The primary fabric, the blue & black paisley was fabric I had bought years ago to weave a rag rug and never got to it. I just took a piece with me to Joann Fabrics and found other colors that I liked with it. I still have a lot of the blue/black so that rug might end up woven too
