    Default Train quilt update

I had posted about this quilt top earlier this year and finally have finished and ready to give to my son for his birthday on the 23rd. I have been buying train themed fabrics ever since I started quilting in 2006 and finally decided on fabrics and pattern to use (Walk About) and then I took another quilt panel for the back and used a couple other train fabrics to piece the backing. I quilted it on my Pfaff Perfomance 5.0 using switchbacks on the train tracks, continuous curves in the yellow triangles, meandering in the green fabric, square spiarls in the orange and outlined the trains to give them some pop (Thanks HollyAnne Knight & FMQA).

That's a fantastic quilt & your son is going to love it. You did a great job with the color selections, pattern & quilting. The back is awesome too as it has turned it into a "two for one" quilt. Thanks for sharing.

It's a good feeling, isn't it, when you've collected fabrics relating to a certain subject and finally comes the time to put them together into something so special. Since I didn't see your earlier post, does your son work in the railroad industry or does he just like trains? He's going to love this.

I like the Walk About pattern you chose for your fabrics. Your son will be so happy to be gifted such an awesome quilt!

He is an engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad and a train lover since he was a toddler. I'm pretty sure this will be shared with his son (almost 4) who has the same love of trains as him as evidenced by the wooden train set that they build together in the living room.

That's adorable! He's sure to love it, unless his son steals it from him haha
