Default Trip Around the World Finished

This is probably the oldest UFO I've ever had but its now finished and in the dryer as we speak. While in Florida waiting for the house to sell I got bored so bought another simple machine and started making some quilt tops. I was very new to the quilting bug so made lots of mistakes. Decided to make a quilt for my mother and one for my older sister. Made 3 quilt tops in my waiting mode before the house sold and I moved up to Iowa. Well, mother moved in with me at 1st and saw one of the 3 quilt tops I'd made and she wanted the logcabin one instead of the one I'd made her so I finished the logcabin for her. I found someone else to give her original quilt to so not problem there. Then my sister saw a pattern she liked and no longer liked the one I'd made her...........hint, hint......the Trip Around the World. So told her if I could find someone else to give her quilt to she would get the other quilt. Obviously these people don't understand what goes into the making of a quilt.........time, money, efforts, etc.

Anyway, went over to the Senior Center Office to see if they have raffles and if I could donate a quilt to them. Yes, so finally finished quilting it and now its in the dryer so I can hand it over to them for this year's raffle in March. So only took from 2008 to early 2016 to finish it.

Not the greatest photos but its too cold to take it outside to photograph today at 1 degrees. Just glad its off my UFO list.

Great quilt and quilting! Their loss is someone else's prize!

Love the quilting! I did a TATW as my first quilt. Took a quilt in a day class....oh back in the mid-90's. Got all but the borders done before I left the class that day! I'm embarassed to say how long it laid aside, however, my children were young then and I didn't have much time to sew, but when I did, I was usually making kids pajamas. Then, had other interests that used my time for many years. Pulled it back out last year. Finished it up and gifted to a friend that lives in a log cabin.

it is just so terrific that you got this one done. Yes, non quilters do not understand the time, effort and cost to make a quilt. Most just see the price on the quilts coming in from China.

You did a fantastic job on this quilt. The quilting is gorgeous. It has to feel good to finish this one.
