I think everyone else has offered sound advice and all I can say is WOW - that's gorgeous!

I'll add my two cents, Barnbum -- Your bargello with the florals is breathtaking! I'm beginning to explore the possibility of trying my hand at a bargello, so I love seeing the photos of finished ones and even WIPs. Because I love batiks so much, I'd assumed that I'd make a batik bargello (when I get up the nerve to actually attempt a bargello, that is!), but after seeing the bright, happy colors of your floral fabrics, I'm rethinking my assumption -- I hope you'll post more photos as you progress, or at least post a picture of the finished product. I'll be watching out for it...

Your bargello is beautiful. Yes, stitching seams in the same direction will throw it off ever so slightly. Yours doesn't look that bad.

i agree about the starch. i buy the liquid concentrate and mix to my desired stiffness. i start at 50/50 on the back of the quilt top.

the last two horizontal seams aren't too bad at all, so that kind of proves the stretching theory. but i agree that the whole thing has to be put together first. don't fret.

    i love the contrast. :-)

Glad to see you error, because I have one partial made and it was going scatty-wompus too. I used an OLD machine and I wonder if it was pushing the top fabric too much with heavy pressure plate. Thanks to all you gave ideas.

I really really love those color choices!
