    Thanks!

I had been cutting up all my very small scraps into 2" and 4" squares for weeks on and off...I haven't used them all up yet! I need to get started on another one soon

    :-D

I just saw it was called jacobs ladder
Yes it's a variation of Jacob's Ladder, mind you there are several ways of doing this. Basically it consists of 4 patches and HST's which are put together in a 9 patch formation, with 3 of the 4 patches running diagonally through the centre with the HST's dark sides touching and two opposite corners dark side out, which when four blocks are put together create the dark diamonds! Clear as mud?

Here's a picture of the blocks

    Well thank you!

I can't deny that it went against every bone in my body to stick to the rule of anything goes...but I soon got over it when I realised that actually it DOES work, sticking to colour value, working dark against lights. This works with mediums too, I just made sure that I used the 'darker' lights with the 'darker' darks, and the 'very light' lights with the mediums to ensure the best overall contrasts between the two!!

Here comes the confession....If you look closely enough, you WILL see that quite a few of the 4 patches and HST's in particular have complimentary fabrics..I was doing this unconsciously, while gathering them up...just comes as 2nd nature to 'match' up fabrics I guess LOL :-D :-D :-D  :D
