Truly 1930s butterfly blocks

I agree with the idea of using Misty Fuse and another layer of muslin, but I would be careful to use a very light-weight muslin. You don't want to have too much weight. I've also done these for my clients with just the stabilizer and no muslin, and they have turned out fine. A lot depends on how you will be quilting it. If you plan to have a lot of background quilting in that area to keep it very stable, you should be fine. I like to finish quilts so my clients can use them, not just look at them, so I try to keep everything very soft --- and still machine-washable. Can't wait to see this when you are done!

Since you have 2 that are duplicates I would frame those. The other 48 I would use in a quilt ..6 across and 8 down and I would sash between the blocks and rows using a good grade of muslin. What beauties and what a treasure.

Oh my gosh I am so glad your sister took those, what a loss of a treasure it would have been. I think Bree123 suggestion is a good one. I see a lattice type quilt, or putting them all "On Point" and making the top that way. Please share your progress with us.

What a treasure you have!!! So glad she was able to save them from being thrown away. There are several good ideas about stabilizers here. Best of luck with your project.
If you change your mind and decide you don't want them, I'd take them off your hands. . . . lol
