Lovely quilt. I work like that all the time when making quilts. I find something I like and just start working not thinking the whole thing out. Sometimes I get a better quilt that way. Good luck with the border.

What a great job you've done! I haven't tried one of those but it looks fun to do. To border or not to border. Hmmm. I think a border would just finish it off and frame your art work perfectly. Colors? I like the idea of a brown next to it and would make it a tone on tone to match one of the browns in the quilt. Next, take a good look at your quilt and pick out your favorite color in it. I wouldn't put a big or bold print for the outer border unless you want people to look at it rather than your "art" work. I like the burgundy but even more, I like the idea of taking the quilt to a fabric store and putting it up to different bolts to see which looks best to you. Someone there may even chime in with opinions. You have good taste and more color sense than you realize. Be sure to let us see how you finish this off. Hugs, dear friend!

Maybe a thin black border to frame it before the brown and autumn boarders.
