There's going to be a baby show the end of May for my niece and she wants everything in safari ... I've wanted to make this Five monkey's quilt for years so I jumped on this last month. Then I found a safari kit at our local quilt shop and put that to bether too. I've free hand quilted both of them on my Janomi, I love to FH Quilt.

I love your monkey quilt!!! When I saw your pic I remembered that I had started one also..so I had to go dig it out and take a pic to show you. We both used checked material and your yellow swirl in your snowballs..I used the same swirl but in blue for 2 of the monkey vests!!! Great minds....lol So heres mine, so far the monkeys are fused down but not completed and no faces yet either, I hope mine turns out as great as yours!! The colors arent showing up great, they are more like the first pic, bright!

How much fun it that, to both think pretty much the same .... I really like the rick-rack look on your hats. I was really sick when I was working on this and kept pushing myself to at least do a little each day. I had machine applique years ago and haven't done any for years ~ You know the old say "You don't use it you lose it" Well, I feel I did lose it on the satin stichs around each monkey. Later on I realized I had been using the wrong needle on my machine it was way to large and I didn't get the stitches I wanted! Oh Well, it's a love quilt and meant to be loved by the little girl it's for.
Thanks for sharing I love your quilt too... By the way I would be interesting in seeing how your going to do your faces, I used Micron pens and I'm not so sure I'm totally happy with the effects?
    Thanks again,
