The Abe quilt is wonderful. I think the white just makes the pictures of Abe pop. Makes it easier to focus on the pic's. Just a thought remember if you do decide to dye the quilt in a tea bath that it may change all the colors of the quilt.

Sorry I know I wasn't much help.

Love the Bedtime Story Quilt, what a great idea. I always 'overpin' my sandwiched quilt before I start machine quilting. I tape the backing to the table nice and firm and pin from the middle out to ease out all ripples etc. Hope you are able to work out how to get your walking foot onto your machine, makes all the difference when machine quilting.

The jungle book panels will be perfect for the baby boy's room.
Abe wall hanging looks great.
Always use your quilting foot when quilting, unless doing FMQ, it keeps the front, batting and backing going under the needle at the same time, less ripples waves or whatever. Also make sure the backing is kept smooth when making the sandwich. I clamp mine to a glass topped dining table and use safety pins to pin about every 3-4".
You can get lots of help here.
Great job and just keep doing them.

I love your idea of using the pages for the book as your quilt blocks. That is so smart!! You did great work and I am sure the parents and new baby that get this is going to love it!!!
Your wall-hanging is very nice too.

I have that machine and attaching the walking foot is not difficult. Do you still have your instruction manual? The trick is to loosen the screw on the left to place the yoke of the walking foot in, and make sure the long arm of the foot attaches to the right hand screw. It does make a difference in wrinkles in the quilt.
I am partial to quilting on the diagonal all the way across the quilt. It goes really fast. I draw one line (with removable blue painters tape) on the quilt, and then use the walking foot as my guide for the next lines. Sometimes I just use painters tape and draw all the lines.

By the way, when I sandwich a quilt I spread out the backing and tape it good to whatever ( the table for me but could be the floor if it isn't carpet). Then put the batting down and then the top. I don't seem to get any waves when I do it like that. And for the white in the wall-hanging...I like it...Makes the pres stand out...I think if you tea-dyed it those blocks would just blend in and not be as noticeable. Guess that is up to how much you want those to stand out!
