Great job on both quilts--i just bought a Spongebob Squarepants book panel and a Little Einstein one to make quilts out of. On the Abe Lincoln one, if you do not like the white, either purchase a permanant beige marker and color it, following the directions for that brand (some you have to heat set, others you do not) or you can also use coffee dabbed on with a Q-Tip
Just make sure to heat set the coffee one if you use it before sandwiching so it won't wash out.

I tape the backing to the table nice and firm and pin from the middle out to ease out all ripples etc. Hope you are able to work out how to get your walking foot onto your machine, makes all the difference when machine quilting.
I love the idea of using the story book panels. Very creative. I also love the Abe quilt too. Very nice.
