    Don't know if this has been suggested but don't rip off the sashing. Use it as part of the block and put a sashing between them. This is how my "Dots and Dashes" quilt was assembled (it's the on that had the heading "Put on your shades" posted a week or so ago). You then can add you accent corner squares to make a secondary pattern.
