    Default Umbrella girls

This vintage quilt was pieced and appliqued by a 96 year old woman. I was asked to quilt it by her sister after the lady passed away. Her sister is 93. She still is a avid quilter but she wanted this one done on the long arm because she planned on presenting it to her niece in memory of her mother.
she said, "I don't care how you quilt it just as long as its held together." So, I played with it and did some practicing on my free motion quilting. Spent all morning working on it from the minute i got up. What do you think???

Simply beautiful! All the swirls in your quilting give the dresses movement. Gorgeous!

I think it's wonderful! What a special quilt to pass down. I think I've seen that "ladies" pattern somewhere recently -- perhaps in one of the vintage quilt magazines I've picked up this summer. Lovely quilt!
