A few years ago a friend who had worked with my DH asked him if I might want HER stuff. I said DUH, no brainer here. It turns out she gave me a quilting frame that her dearly departed had made for her. Plus a lot of her stash. The rest she donated to her guild. The reason was that she and her DH had quilted together. He cut, she pieced. He quilted on the frame along side of her. He and she were both retired and until he retired he had never so much as looked at her stuff or her quilts. But retirement made a different man of him. When he died she suffered so much grief that she could no longer quilt. It was so sad, but she seemed much happier with it all out of her house. Now she's involved with the Little Theater and League of Women Voters. She too has become a whole different person.
HOw sad! This friend lost her DH to cancer not to long ago :-( and he let her buy whatever she wanted. they would go on romantic weekend out of town and then he would take her to the quilt stores to go shopping. I think that may be part of why she doesn't want to even see any of it or even what I make with it because of the memories. She said that I saved her life and that it was a relief to have it gone, I hope she really meant it.

What a jackpot! It'll take you weeks just to organize and get to know what you have - a job we'd all love to have. Have fun, and post more pictures when it's organized, so WE'LL know, too!

I see some things I would love to have - Michigan is close to PA is it not? Congratulations! I'm looking forward to seeing some things you make from this awesome gift!

Wow! She's very generous that's for sure! You need to quilt a small quilt as a special 'thank you' to her. Maybe a nice table topper, runner, or wall hanging.
    Kind Regards,
