Default Uncle Harveys cows & tractor..

I made this lap quilt for my Uncle Harvey. He has alzheimers now, but his health & attitude are good. He has been a farmer all his life. He loved his cows & his tractor. My aunt gave me 3 of his shirts, so I made the pillows & lap quilt for him. Hopefully he will recognize what they represent, things he loves. I want to tie this quilt, it seems that's what it needs..then off to Uncle Harvey!

Your quilt looks great and a farmer will appreciate the Allis Chalmers orange. I'd suggest machine quilting it as I find it wears a lot better than ties or you could do some of both if ties really appeal to you. I found that just tying meant that after lots of washes, the ties started tearing out and the batting shifted. If your uncle does move to a long term residence (nursing home) their industrial washers may be hard on a tied quilt.

Cute, cute cute! I did the tractor in John Deere green. I find Lori Holt's patterns very nice to do. How about you?

Wow you sure nailed it. He will love it. I bet it will make him smile when he's snuggling under it.

How kind and thoughtful of you to do this for your aunt and uncle. I think your quilt is very creative and so appropriate for your uncle. Very nice work.

Lost my mom to Alzheimer's, even if he can't express it, this will bring him joy and comfort. It's a beautiful, sweet gift. I agree on machine quilting and tying combined.
