Thought some of you who helped advise me so many months ago might appreciate seeing I'm making SOME progress on this beast of a project. I keep setting it aside because I remain unhappy with it. Mostly with the quality of my work. I still don't know if I'm going to send this to its intended recipient.

I am following Sharon Shamber's basting technique found at:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhwNylePFAA

I made the boards; they're VERY helpful. But here's a photo, with my quilt inspector inspecting the basting.

Looks like the inspector is pleased with your work. The quilt is very pretty.

    Ah, I remember this one.
Are you planning on hand quilting it?

I don't know yet. It would be my first hand-quilting of a complete quilt. If I did, I'd need to get one of those larger frames (vs. the "small" oval standing frame I have). I'm rather drawn to the idea of hand quilting it. That would also allow me to procrastinate further on a) getting it done and b) sending it to its intended recipient. This quilt may just become the monster hanging around my neck for the next gazillion years.

Oh look: the senior(*) quilt inspector had to come check things out:

(*)senior only in attitude; he's several years younger than the other, but clearly the boss in the house.
