Default USA Map Quilt (~30 hours)

This will be part of a double sided quilt. I want to have another map on the other side that will have each state's name personalized. Now I just need to get a fat quarter of every state (maybe 1/2 yd for Texas)!

    The continental portion measures ~32" x 50"

So pretty! I was thinking of doing something just like this, after seeing wall art in a very recent clothing catalog! The page of the catalog featuring the calico map has been torn out and I have put it on my idea board in my sewing room.
Did you use a classroom sized map for the state shapes? I love your great fabrics.

What a novel idea. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Very nice! I am anxious to see the other side! I too wondered how you designed it.

I like what I see so far. A teachers' supply store will have good outline maps.

I used the following tutorial. The step by step directions were very easy to follow. Only I sewed on the states using a scant 1/8th of an inch instead of 1/4". Also the background fabric is light blue with my map!
