My granddaughter was over this weekend and we put together some table mats using charms. She loves to put patterns and colors together. She is 7 and has been sewing for two years. She is getting pretty good at it! These are great to use as hot pads in the middle of the table. After we finished the mats, she made a valentine box for school. She takes after her Grandma with her love of crafty things!

Love her table mat. No telling what she will be creating in a couple more years! That is great. Maybe I better start teaching my "just turned 5 year old GD" to quilt. She tries to crochet but she really can't sit still long enough to get the hang of it. She likes to be up and going.

I bought Alyssa her own sewing machine when she was 5 because she always wanted to be on mine. It is the Janome Hello Kitty. Her younger brother just turned 6 and complained about not having his own machine, so he will be getting one of my back-up machines to start sewing on. His interest right now is more....If sissy gets to do it.... but we'll see!
