    I really like how the miters on the rail fence give this quilt such dimention.

    This is a great way to make lots of flying geese. I do add more than called for, I would rather trim and have them perfect, but still only a tiny amount of waste.

    The square on the left is most commonly called Sawtooth Star, but as others have said, sometimes is called Variable Star. The square on the right is more commonly known as Variable Star, but in the Red/White/Blue swap, Deb Watkins referred to it as Coxey's Camp. I haven't found that name anywhere else. It can get confusing when blocks are called by so many names.

    The quilt you pictured is gorgeous! I can see why you'd like to make one too.
