    Some of this material may be from feed bags. The feed bags of the 40's had some beautiful prints. The weave of the cloth was not very heavy. I remember my grandmother making dresses and lots of aprons from the feed bags. They had a huge chicken farm, consequently tons of feed bags.

    Dunster, you did a great job on saving that piece. I wonder if you will ever find out the original maker of that top. Perhaps a family member will see it and let you know, I hope so. Let us know if you ever find out more.

    This post was just what I was looking for tonight for inspiration! Great job! I have 2 inexpensive tops I purchased at an antique store and estate sale. I want to put them in the long arm. I need to figure out backings and square up the sides of one.
