Default Violets for a sweet lady

Some months ago (I know, I'm really tardy with this "swap"), a very special lady in Maine sent me the most exquisite machine-embroidered peacock. I agonized for months trying to figure out a proper response-in-kind. I knew I could never match her expertise, so I languished and let many other things get in my way, until...I am in awe of the delicate little violets which so bravely pop up in my lawn every Spring so I took a lesson from Georgia O'Keefe and "grew" (large enough so they can see) them in size on this design. I'm amazed that they show up in blue (which is good, too) because I embroidered them in a violet-red-wine-colored silk! The shading occurs from the direction of the needle I think. The leaves are silk as well. The "pot" (oh, what a mess!) is very pale violet/lavender, white and the metallic mother-of-pearl. Hope you all approve. Blessings, S.

Your violets are so dainty and lovely. I like the background fabric you chose to embroider them on. The pot looks textured - was that the machine embroidery too? It's just lovely, it looks like a rough ceramic pot, one that I would pick up and buy!!!! I didn't see the embroidered peacock, but I think I'd rather have this pot of violets panel, for sure!! Great job. My embroidering machine is sick and needs a Dr. but since it seems to cost $100. for the 'Dr' to just cast his eyes upon it, I'm afraid it will have to stay sick!

Beautiful, and as with any art, frame it and view at a slight distance and as a whole picture! It's very pretty!
