    Default Walk About Quilt top

I'm making this quilt for my oldest son who is an engineer for BNSF for his Father's Day present. Top is finished and ready to sandwich and quilt. I have been collecting train themed fabric for several years and just never decided on a pattern to make when I remembered the Dr. Who quilt I made for my younger son several years ago. I appliqued the trains on the green fabric to make them big enough and the railroad tracks were perfect for the arrows and partnered with the railroad signage. I have a couple of train panels that I am going to piece with some of my other fabrics for the backing. I haven't decided yet whether to do the binding in the orange or the green yet. I love this pattern don't know why I haven't made it more often. I plan on quilting with a loopy meander on yellow print and green and will do a switchback on the train tracks.

That is a great pattern! And fun train fabric. It looks wonderful. Your son will love it. Thank you for sharing! I took a screen shot of it and added it to my wish list.

Should add that the size of this is about 60 x 60 but pattern has instructions to make up to king size

You did a great job with your fussy cutting and fabric selection. He is going to love it. I wouldn't have known what BNSF was except that our grandson was really into trains and I got to know all the acronyms for trains, and all the different kinds of train cars. LOL
