    I think you are off to a fine start.
    By the way, you can also color with regular Crayolas and iron set the results. I've done that on another similar project. You can blend the colors too. I was advised to only trust Crayolas.

    So I took the suggestion and colored it with Crayola crayons. I will now go back and continue to put in my stitching along the lines to give it a more 3D feel. We will see how it turns out. But here it is colored.
