Thanks everyone, I knew you would come up with some good ideas, because I work with small pieces I like to keep them all flat, I do not have a big stash etc. I like to starch in batches outside, as I am asthmatic and I cannot work in the same room that I have sprayed in but I love the results from spray starch so do all that when preparing my fabrics. I like Linda's idea, such a simple one but I could see this working for me as I do not have heaps of fabric, rather more like lots of small bits.

I leave the stickers on the unwashed ones. Otherwise, I can tell from the edges.

I snip the corners at an angle on each peice of fabric before I throw them in the washing machine. Cutting the corners helps to keep the fabric from raveling too much and I can identify which pieces have been washed by looking at the corners.

Gal-what kind of spray starch are you using? I don't use the aerosol canned kind, waste of money. You can make your own for a whole lot cheaper and it might not bother your asthma.

I normally don't wash my fabrics... last night I attended our local guild meeting and one of the ladies relayed an article that she read about how some manufactures use formaldehyde! That can't be good! So I plan on washing my entire stash... man, what a pain in the butt! But, better safe than sorry.
