My cousin is a paramedic and is really ill. I bought some fabric from Walmart to make him quilt. I also had to be curious about the FQ's at Big Lots. This is what I found there as far as fat quarters.

As for Troy's quilt, I'm thinking strips? The FQ's I will use to make some totes.

FQ's from Big Lots $1.00 each

Praying your cousin will be better soon. Certainly a quilt made by you will help him to feel better. After seeing your fabrics, I definitely have to check out Big Lots!

I love strip quilts, however I think some of the larger print fabric would be taken away from with strips. Were you going to do something with the emblem in the pic? I am sure the quilters on here will have lots of ideas for you.

Nice prints! I wonder if our Big Lots carries them? I'll have to check.

Since he is/was a paramedic, I thought doing a block with an applique of the star of life would be meaningful to him since he's not a fireman. I kind of thought of using the grey print for borders. I am checking my post for ideas and making notes to see what I implement.

Nice fabrics choices for your cousins' quilt. They have the identical fat quarters at Big Lots here in western Colorado, I just checked yesterday. They must have a bazillion of them if they're selling the same prints all across the country. I bought one with a pale lime background that has pink and brown dots and circles, they only had one of that print.

Yes, I saw that pink and brown one too at my location. I also came across a red, black and white print and a creme colored one, they only had one of each so I opted not to get either of them. Hopefully they will have bigger choices in the future!
