what I worked on yesterday

What a gift you have given your mother working with her on this lovely quilt. My mother died of complications of Alzheimer Disease nearly five years ago. Mom was part of the Stanford Hospital/Veterans Hospital Research Project. She went in regularly to be assessed and we were told that her spatial memory was better than any other things tested. Mom was a quilter and used those shapes and stitching and as a result held on to that knowledge long past expectation. If you know who Ami Simms is then you also probably know about the Alzheimer Quilt Iniative. Ami, an internationally known quilter started this quilt auction site to help support Alzheimer research after her mother was diagnosed.. The quilts are donated and must be 9 x 12 inches or smaller. I invite you to visit
Ami Simms is a hoot and you will enjoy her website, I am sure.

What a lovely quilt you and your Mom have put together. My suggestion is that you get some pictures of Mom while she is quilting (maybe even when she doesn't notice you, if possible!) Then take a couple of pics of the two of you with the finished quilt. What a lovely heirloom the quilt will then become, complete with photos of the two great ladies who completed it!
Blessings to both of you! :D

Reading about how you have worked out a way to keep your mother involved puts me in mind of Ami Simms. Do you know her? Her mother had Alzh. and Ami blogged extensively about her until her death recently. If you go to amisimms.com or AAQI.com you can read about her work raising awareness for Alzh and raising money to donate to studies of the awful disease.
