Help!! I went to quilterscache and couldn't find either name, dahlia star or triple star. What did I do wrong??

The closest block name I could find is called Starry Compass. On this particular block, all of the points were the same length rather than short and long points.

Hi, I got that book from the library today and looked up the pattern on page 194 - Kansas Sunflower and it is definitely not the same as the one in the older quilt. Kansas Sunflower is only one star with the sunflower appliqued in the center of that one star. There are alot of star blocks out there and they all look a little similar but there are differences. Thanks for trying.

It's possible that the star was English Paper Pieced, ie over templates. I've seen similar designs here in England in quilt museums... :-D The templates could easily be traced off a drawn picture and cut out of old envelopes, if anyone feels like a bit of hand sewing... :-D
