To add some color, how about using a rustic red between the blocks as your sashing. Maybe a narrow strip not too wide?

Pick a color from the print squares, make a sashing around the blocks, put borders on it and quilt it. It will make a beautiful quilt.

You could always "tie" them with some kind of button in the center of the stars to give them a little ooomph.

I'd go with the rest of them. Use dark sash and put it together. If you want to add some more punch I have two ideas. First, after it's pieced together (or before) add some applique. There was a quilt in this months McCalls Quilting magazine that had a basic quilt with butterfly appliques done in beautiful batiks all over it and it was stunning. If it was for a little boy you could do like a sheriffs star and cowboy boots and maybe spurs. You get the idea.

The other idea is to add embroidered designs or decorative stitches. Or some contrasting quilting stitches.

JMHO. I like the stars. That was our first star in this year star BOM.

Thin sashing of brown or turkey red would surely make your quilt pop. Great blocks, by the way.

The blocks look about 6". how about making them square-in-a-
square? the added corners would enlarge the blocks and then you could do some sashing, etc. they would set on Point or you could do the action twice to make them even larger and set on square. color suggestions of darker browns & turkey reds sound good. when quilting, use a red or dark brown to stitch about 1/4" inside each star.
will be a great quilt and so fun to finish a UFO.
