Whats wrong with this quilt/wallhanging?

I like the arrangement with all the triangles in the same direction. If it was mine, I would resew the blocks where the fabric is in a different direction and sew it together with a black sashing and border. The colors are very nice and the quilt has a modern feel to it.

I always heard that a little yellow/gold goes a long way... I am a relatively new quilter and I like yellow but I try to listen to the experienced ones... maybe take away a few gold and see what happens to your eye view... I like your choice of fabrics and the gradation to the darker hues. Keep on with it and watch as it evolves... that is a fun process we all experience.

I agree, I like the gold but I think if you put dark sashing it would tie it all together.

I, too, would rearrange. Since you have already taken a pic of it, you can follow that if you want to come back to that design. I would bring the black over to the left bottom corner and then keep the blocks in the same order except change
every block so the main triangles are all going in the same direction. I would consider using the plain black as border #1 on the 3 sides but not where the plain black blocks are. Then alter the borders again, gray-white, and then black, but do
the opposite on the 4th side. Play with it, go out of the room, maybe leave it for a week, and then you will see a difference, and maybe one you are very pleased with.

I like it! Once you stitch it together the design will be easier to identify. At first glance it is very busy, but as I looked at it more carefully (and at a little more distance) the effect you were trying to create jumped out at me and now I'm in luv!
