Stand back from the computer and look at the first photo again, I think you will find their is more definition than you thought. It will be beautiful.

I think once you make more blocks you'll see more of the pattern appear. Like others have stated, it'll be low contrast - but I bet it will end up being beautiful! You may really enjoy the outcome.

Do you happen to have 2 mirrors that you could put together? If so, it may show you what it'll look like bigger, you know like the stack n whack mirror principal.

I don't see anything wrong with this at all. I like it.

If you don't like it, why don't you just make a table runner for her or a set of hot pads? Then you don't have to feel guilty for abandoning a project, you make a lovely gift, and you have lots of your beautiful fabric left to make something you like better!

Really? Ok, maybe I don't feel so bad afterall. Thanks for all your encuragement.

When I showed my husband who is normally very supportive he gave me that "Eeecckk" face he does so well.

But when I read him the first couple responses he told me without a doubt to listen to my quiling friends.

I think I will keep going and try do more today.

Thank you all!! This is why this board is so great.

I love the fabrics. Here is a photo of a quilt I saw at a quilt show. I think it is beautiful. Maybe you could do something like this if you aren't happy with the subtle colors.

Love the STRAIGHT seams!!! Great job - I like the idea, too, of some applique on top too... can't wait to see it finished!

It looks fine to me too. Maybe introduce something darker in color to make it pop if you want contrast. You don't have to stick to the pattern either. I will be anxious to see how this all turns out.
