really think that having a magnet that close to a computerized machine is a good idea.

Or maybe these days they are better protected. I'm usually behind the times anyway, so please correct me on this.
Ramona is right. Computer chips and magnets don't mix. Magnets will 'reset' the chips/memory in ways you won't like. Had it happen to me years ago at work. I'd do my work and then, to borrow a quilting term, the file would get 'wonky'. Had tech support over several times, then noticed I had a magnetic paperclip holder right next to the floppy drive - an ancient form of a cd/dvd/thumb drive. After I moved the paperclip holder, the problem ended.

I was thinking the same thing. I was told that a magnet could damage the computer chip as much as in a computer. We were told in college to not get our Floppy disc (that tells how long ago they told me) near a magnet because it would erase the contents or make it not usable. I found out the hard way before they told me.

Like Ramona said, maybe they are more protected now. I hope so.

I checked into the magnet thing when deciding whether to get a Magna Hoop and was told as long as the magnet is not close to the computer portion, there would be no problem. I don't know if the small magnet you are using can pose much of a problem but it might where you have it located!
