I always felt the same way, spend as much time with them while they are growing up. my house wasn't always the cleanest, beds not always made, dishes not always washed, but my kids were always happy & were still well behaved. you can always clean when they are not with you. loved the costumes. My kids are now in their 20's and 30's. They still talk about the Halloween costumes. "remember when I was a - - - - " (fill in the blank). They never say "remember when the kitchen floor was sticky", but they DO remember making iced cookies. They don't remember the sewing I did, but they DO remember the stories, crafts and games.

I used to do the same. It is so rewarding especially when they grow older and you show them the pictures. They usually remember the costumes you made over the purchased ones,

Ditto to what everyone else said. Enjoy them while you can. They grow up all too fast and they are children for such a short time. My two are 34 and 38 and I really miss the good times when they were small. I was a stay at home mom until they got into school, then I taught school so I could be off work when they were out of school for holidays and summers. Wouldn't trade their childhood years for millions. You will have time to quilt when they are grown, or teen agers. I let lots of things go to spend time with mine, house work, clubs etc. I always knew there would be housework to do when they were gone from home, and that was not at the top of my list then, my children were. My house was clean but never spotless., and they could always say they lived in our home, it was not a showplace. I only had mine with a baby sitter once when we went out. Had to leave them with a sitter when they got out of school for the day before I did, but luckily the lady lived across the street from my school, and had children that were in my two children's classes. I always felt that I had them and didn't need a sitter to raise them. Just my opinion. Be glad you can sew and make their costumes. Great job. lovely children.
