This is block three. For those who would like to see how I do this and have not done it before, I will show the block in different stages.

I start in the center or off center with a center of interest or just a pretty piece of fabric. The center piece is cut with at least three or four angles. This piece has four angles of different lenghts. This will make your block have angles and interest.

I then start to put any width of strips around the center piece. I might join a bunch of little pieces to make a strip and add it to one side, like the bottom of this center.

After sewing a strip of pieces together. I only cut the top part straight, sew to the block and then cut the bottom even with the batting underneath.

Sometimes I will cut the a triangle shape etc.
As I do the block you will see the different things that you can do.

If using, for instance, fish, in this case. If you look at where they are going, you will see that the bottom fish seems to be heading toward some reeds, the top fish seem to be heading toward some nautical stuff. You can create interest by using fabric scraps that pertain to your center. It is amazing what you can find in your scraps.

    Finished block.

I'm enjoying seeing the progression of the blocks.

I went ahead and squared off the blocks to 17 1/2 by 17 1/2. I joined them in fours and then sewed the fours together to make one long shade.

I thought I'd show you the fours sets and then the entire shade and then another tomorrow after the lining and hanging on the window to see the stain glass effect.

I used a huge scrap of fish novelty fabric. I am sure it came from one of my friends. It was way bigger than a scrap. All the blocks have fish in them.

I will need to add 1/2 inches on each side and that will be the lining pulled to the front.

I usually post everything to my blog. You can see bigger pic there and can enlarge them also. It's on the doll and quilt blog.

Lets's start with Molly. I escaped Teddy but she jumped up on the chest and got in a basket of special scraps.

I put the shade up last night and I don't like the way it hangs. I will take it down and add a strip on each side, sew loops at the top and put a curtain rod and I will be able to slide the shade to the side.

I guess the sun didn't shine too bright this morning through the window or I just got up too late.

I will take another pic when I catch the strong sun shinning through. I did use thicker batting.
