we have relatives up in Kettle Falls, Wash.. We live in Eastern Oregon, over the mountain called Cabbage Hill, or Meacham ( town ).. its been snowing here this winter, and temps into the single digits or lower.. today is a heat wave of high 20's... yeah.. thanks for sharing your beautiful room/view.

    I KNOW Meacham ... Cabbage Hill .... Deadman's Pass!
That is so beautiful. Most breathtaking view of Pendleton - - clear to (I forget the name --out southwest of Pendletom) coming down Deadman's Pass/freeway side of Cabbage Hill.
The mountains and everything seems so different in Eastern Washington from Eastern Oregon ... Kettle Falls is close to what you see in your area, but Eastern Oregon - - that is God's country to me! <wave>

What a view! I can sew in a room like that! I do have an up-stairs room--Used to be my son's room--now it is my sewing room!! Haha! I have a great view too. Some times we get deer in our back yard, I can sew and watch them.

I drive by you all the time when I go from Washington to Reno to see my parents! It is so beautiful there, but I certainly hate driving through the Blues during the winter with all the snow you get there. What a wonderful place to live!!

The Blue Mountains ARE totally different, aren't they???
I have only been through them once, south of Pendleton/La Grande, actually, and I think I am pretty accurate saying that I haven't seen anything like them here in Washington, Idaho, or Wyoming/Montana way.
Other than that, I am not very well-travelled, so I can't explain the difference, but the Blue Mountains are different.
The time I was in them was over thirty years ago so traveling through them may have changed, but they seemed so - - maybe the word is "bleak" ...
Keep in mind that I was the person driving, so what I surmised was viewed through that lens, rather than actually getting to look at them - - not only well-travelled, I don't do tourist, either <g> <wave> I know you were typing to the Meacham girl, but I do so appreciate Eastern Oregon that I couldn't help but jump in ;)

I know you are in your room toasty with a cup of hot coffee or hot cocoa looking out at the beautiful site thinking: "Great day for quilting!" I remember those snowy days of Spokane but I do not remember getting that much snow in one day (or night).

    Happy New Year to all.
