Default WIP; my first 'proper' quilt

Please excuse the less than perfect photo, but I took this with my phone. Having completed a couple of smaller projects, this is my first 'proper' quilt ready to baste. The pattern came from a 2011 UK magazine and was originally red and white. I didn't have any red or white fabric and wanted to keep the cost down, so raided my dressmaking stash to find the brown patterned fabric (and then went shopping for the cream anyway ). I loved how quickly the embroidered panels came together, but have now discovered that I don't much care for basting *(but I do understand how important it is, so will persevere). The plan is to machine around the sashing, then hand quilt the rest.

Lovely design and colours. Yes basting is a bear of a thing, but necessary. Look forward to seeing it complete, it's looking beautiful already.
