    No disrespect here, but that quilt cries out to me to be handquilted considering age and some of the blocks were hand pieced etc. To me, I would have to handquilt this one if I never handquilted another one in my life. But that's just me.

    Wouldn't she be thrilled to see what you've done with her blocks! It's such an heirloom now with her work and yours combined!! Awesome.

    You could scan her paper - instruction sheet onto a fabric sheet and use it as the label. It wouldn't get lost and would stay with the quilt.
