Each time we try something new that does not turn out like we wanted it to, well I look at this a different way. Not a mistake but tells you how that way looks and try working on some different borders. I made a scrap book of how to make different designs. We learn all of our lives. After all quilts are a fun thing we do for our selves. Keep on quilting. I love this design. Marvel

hmmmm , i'd take the top border ends off and rip out some stitches so i could at least add more white going vertically, so the side border white would look like it went through the top and bottom ones, crossing under.

Thank you everyone for kind words and ideas. I have added two pictures fixing the borders. In one - I simply extend the white across and in the other I cover the corner with blue.

I like covering the corner with blue, also. It looks more natural, I think; and it seems to complement the rest of the quilt. I certainly have no complaints for a first quilt. you have done a marvelous job!
