A 5-yr-old is gonna love this quilt! I really like the solid blue sashing. The blocks are a bit busy, but children love busy! So many different blocks to play with and look at. If you haven't started the second one, my only suggestion might be a slightly wider sashing. As others have said, you have to like it. Personally, I like it!

I see that there is a splash of green in the butterfly blocks - did you think about adding some green to a narrow border or sashing - it just might make it pop. Try some & see if you like that. Just a thought........

In my history of quilt making (made my first one in 1989), I have made some I absolutely love and others not so much. Sometimes the vision and the execution just doesn't work out. Sometimes it's the fabric, the pattern or the quilting. One thing I have learned is once it's quilted it's a quilt. Someone can snuggle with the quilt and absolutely love it. I think those you made it for will cherish the thought of the maker and use it for what is intended.

It looks very five year old girl friendly. Little girls like lots of things to look at. Adults like us are the ones who look for color complements and matchy-matchy. Go ahead and make the other one. Warm is never the wrong color. You have made a very nice quilt, even if I don't care for blue and brown together myself. It was not made to please me either...
Just my thoughts.

To my eyes, the issue is the outer fabric in some of the blocks. The stripe gets disrupted, maybe change the construction to mitered outer pieces when you use the stripe? Also the large print looses it's impact... maybe fussy cut squares of it to replace the inner 4 patch.
These are just thoughts that I would consider if it were mine to make a 2nd one of. Love the fabrics!
