    Default Working Man's Quilt

AKA Industrial-Strength Quilt. I posted about this a looooong time ago (several months, maybe) and things got busy so I wasn't able to get started until this month. These are gift quilts for a friend who is so generous that this seems like a meager gesture, but at least it's something. (And it took HOURS - I'm really slow.) The small blue squares are all from old jeans. I took care to be choosy; the faded jeans I had in my stash were too light for the result I had in mind. The burgundy-red squares are a purchased canvas-type fabric that's similar in weight to the denim. The large squares and border strips are new denim fabric and the backing is fleece, which is the same color as the burgundy squares but a shade darker.

I made two quilts, but they're not identical. The diagonal arrangement of the large blocks on the other quilt is the mirror image of the one pictured above, so when the quilts are on the twin beds, the diagonals will make a "V" or an teepee shape, (viewed together) depending on which quilt is on which bed.

NOTE: Color is not true in these photos. The red looks hot pink, but it's really more of a burgundy. It's an overcast day today in Connecticut, and the photo is slightly under-exposed.
