I actually learned to quilt while I was living in Rota, Spain twenty years ago. My husband was stationed there with the Navy. We lived out in town and I didn't know a soul and spoke very little Spanish. So, I signed up for quilting class on the base. The instructor was a Spanish woman who lived across the street from me! We became great friends & sewed almost every day. She taught me a lot. Spain definitely has some talented, gifted women![/quote]

Rota is on the south west coast near Cadiz' & Puerto de Santa Maria. It's referred to by some as the "Gateway to the Med" because it's the last large US Naval shipyard before traveling through the Straights of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean.
