thread painting looks cool.. .. do you do that ?

Hey! I have a tree cut in the same green fabric as you do. I also have some of the grey small print behind the tree and the beige mountain fabric--I believe it's an old Jinny Beyer fabric.
Some time ago (OK, over a year) I cut out a large tree and pinned it to my background to hand applique. I stopped because I knew I couldn't possibly needle turn all those branches even tho the branches were somewhat rounded. Then I stuffed it and raw edged sewed it to the background. It just doesn't look right--the stuffing doesn't go to the end of the branches to it's puffy only in the middle. I put it away & it hasn't seen the light of day since. . .
Good luck with finishing your wall hanging.!

Your quilt is going to be awesome, just like Yosemite. I cried the first time I saw El Capitan; it was just so beautiful. Let us see it when you're done.

Coming alone quite nicely. My DH and I are going to Yosemite next year and we are planning the hike El Capitan...I will be thinking of your wall hanging (oh, and probably gasping for air :) :)).
You're doing an amazing job. I am inspired to get some of my vacation pictures from the Greek Isles and do a wall hanging. Hhhmmm another project (eeeekkkks).
