I have asked this question before but still don't get it. How are the most frequent threads chosen? today's were mostly non printed as they were invalid. sometimes there is only one page of replies. How can they be considered most talked about threads.

the selections for the sample link lists are chosen by a software routine.
the selection lists do not automatically update themselves if something is moved or deleted.

threads are more often moved than they are deleted.

"busiest" just means they have been viewed the most often during the hours before the software routine automatically runs.
because so many people rely exclusively on the sample lists, it follows that they will get a lot of views.
so the busiest might not be those with the most comments added.
they are rarely the newest, either, for the same reason.

if you really want to see what's newest (including "older" threads with new comments), use either the "What's New?" link or the Archive links.
