I used to have the same problem. Also white boxes with nothing in them, hit the x and the box would instantly reappear with no way to get rid of it. My son installed malwarebytes anti-malware version. No more problems.

I get a kick out of Walmart - I saw an "L" shaped desk on W/mart site - bought it from W/mart - we put it together and have been using for a few months and I still get their "we found this for you" - - an "L' shaped desk! And I will get an ad from them that starts with "we have missed you" - - really, I was just in there a half hour ago and bought a bunch of stuff. Crazy internet. :-)

I agree it is a major pain; however, unless you set your computer to block all then you are going to get them. Just close them and go on about your business. I make a mental note, not easy to do at my age, not to purchase the annoying product that interrupted my online work.

Thank you, just went to see if I was all set, I am but still checked the OK. Will see if it helps.

I have Firefox and I never get those ads-thank goodness. However, I have a son who is a software engineer and he set my computer up. I would be upset with the pop-ups just like I find telemarketing on my phone an unwelcome annoyance. But, I do think any concept of privacy is a thing of the past.
